ICC Womens T20 World Cup, 2024

  • So, Kiwis did it for the first time in the ICC Women's T20 World Cups. This was their third appearance in the finals after 2009 & 2010 and finally, they got lucky. After lifting the Women's ODI World Cup in 2021, Kiwis have also announced their power in style. @kiwiscanfly, are you celebrating at home?

  • On the other hand, feeling sorry again for the Proteas, @Patjewell. It was their second consecutive defeat in the Women's T20 World Cup finals, and a few months back, they had to satisfy being the runners-up Men's World Cup too in a very close way. It is very hard to be a South African Cricket fan these days.

  • I continuously shared the update with you guys in the last two weeks. So, after the first round, AUSW & NZW qualified for the semis from Group A & WIW and SAW from Group B.

The semis final one was between South Africa and mighty Aussies. Oh yeah, in the last 8 World Cups, they have reached the finals 08 times and won it 06 times. But SAW knocked Australia out of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, in style. Batting first, they could only put a total of 134/5. SAW could chase it with 08 wickets and 16 balls remaining.

The second semi was a pretty close, low-scoring thriller. NZ batting first scored only 128/9. In the sluggish pitch at Sarjha, NZ struggled a lot, but chasing the target it was even worse for the Windies. They lost wickets regularly and ended up in 120/8 losing by just 08 wickets.

  • It was a grand finale at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The two teams NZ and SA were meeting for the first time in a World Cup final. In a slow pitch, NZ did a good job scoring 158/5 runs. Suzie Bates, Amelia Kerr, and Brooke Halliday did well. But once again the day was not for the Proteas. They had a great opening partnership of 51 runs, but then the inning went downhill. Wickets fell quickly without good partnerships and ended up scoring just 126/9. NZ won and became the World Champions.

Amelia Kerr became the player of the match with 03 wickets, 43 runs & 01 catch. And also the player of the series with 15 wickets (Most wickets in a Women’s T20 WC edition, 03 3-wicket hauls) & 135 runs.

England tour of Pakistan, 2024

  • After losing the first match with a record, Pakistan came up strongly to win the second one. It was all from spinners from Pakistan. Can you believe, their new additions Sajid Khan(09 wickets) & Noman Ali(11 wickets) took all 20 wickets of England?

  • Batting first Pakistan scored 366-10 in 123.3 Overs. Their replacement for Babar Azzam, Kamran Ghulam scored a century in his debut. England got a good run, especially with Ducket getting venturing, but after his wicket, they were all out from 224/3 to 291/10.

  • In the second inning, Pakistan added another 221/10 runs. So, the target was 296 for England, but fell out for just 144 runs.

West Indies tour of Sri Lanka, 2024

  • After a comeback and winning the T20I series, Sri Lanka got the perfect result in the first match of the 3-match ODI series as well.

  • West Indies started batting and it was a lousy start from them. They lost 4 wickets for 100 runs, in the first 25 overs. But Rutherford and Chase carried the innings pretty comprehensively until the rain disrupted the play. WI was at 185-4 in 38.3 Overs. So, the revised DLS target for Sri Lanka was 232 runs in 37 overs.

  • Sri Lanka lost 3 batters for just 45 runs in the first 06 overs. But the debutant Nishan Madhushka and the captain Aslanka put up a 137-run partnership with half-centuries in aggression. Then we could comfortably chase the target with 05 wickets and with 31 balls to spare.

New Zealand tour of India, 2024

  • After whitewashing Bangladesh completely, India came strongly for the 3-match Test series. But it became a nightmare to them in their home soi. On the other hand, NZ registered their first win in a Test match in India since 1988!

  • India batted first and they had no clue against NZ pacers. Matt Henry & William ORourke were exceptional destroying the Indian batting lineup. The score was just 46 runs, with 5 ducks & only 2 double-digit scores. Anyway, the Kiwis had no trouble in the batting as well. With a 91 from Conway, a century from Rachin Ravindra, and also a fifty from Southe they put in 402 runs.

  • After such a humiliation, India didn't frustrate a lot. They came back strongly and scored 462/10 runs in the second inning. Kohli and Rohit added half-centuries. A 177-run partnership from Sarfaraz Khan and Pant for the fourth wicket was the real deal. Sarfaraz scored 150 runs, while Pant fell out for 99 runs unfortunately. Anyway, India loses the way from losing the last 07 wickets for just 54 runs. They added 462 runs in the second inning.

  • It was just a 107-run partnership for Kiwis and they did it with 08 wickets remaining, with a famous win.

So, that's it for today!! Until the next time! Enjoy!

Thank you.
Best Regards!
