A Breakfast for the disabled kids | Meth Sewana Foundation

It was a very satisfying day for me and my family members after all. Earlier I shared a few posts about my charity activities with one of the non-profit homes near my hometown, post 01, post 02. The place is Meth Sewana Foundation. It's very different than a typical orphanage. There are 100+ kids, and a few adults as well, who are mentally or physically disabled. There are kids from 2,3 years old as well.
So, today I got the chance to visit the place with breakfast for them once again.
The pioneer of the organization had started it a with few kids, in his own house. And now with the help and donations from many humble people in Sri Lanka and overseas, this place has become a gem. Even if money was given, it's a rare mentality to engage in this type of thing. Today there are around 110 people, and a better part of them can't eat their own even. Either with mental disabilities, or difficulties in using their hands, walking, or even getting up on their own. And there are a few restricted areas with high mental disorder kids as well.
It was very emotional to watch their hardships. The staff here look after them, feed them, clean them, and maintain their well-being. It's a very noble act from their end, with the help from many donors around.
They maintain the place tidy and pleasant, as you can see in the images.
Inside the charity home
We, as a family, come here once a year with meals or some donations, reminding the memories of our departed family members, grandma, pop, and all the others.
We gathered all the essentials and some presents to donate yesterday. Today, early in the morning people gathered in our day, to prepare breakfast. It was rice, bread, and a few vegetables with dessert. It was around a 45-minute trip from home and we left the home at around 6.30 a.m.
There was a practiced procedure for serving the meals. We served separately for the ones who can eat their own. And the staff members fed the kids, and adults who couldn't eat their own.
The most moving thing was there were 2 babies of 2 & 3 years old. Both of them can't move. The older one can't see even, and she is fed only juice through tubes. The small baby could understand, and she was laughing at our reactions. It was emotional. Life isn't fair, right?
We donated a few things and left the place with heavy hearts. May some happiness to their lives!!
So, that's it for today!! Until the next time! Enjoy!
Thank you.
Best Regards!
