It has been a very long while ever since I have enjoyed eating a nicely-cooked rice in this house. My parents seems to be always failing to cook our rice here from our home kitchen. It is because I am always finding it hard to finish my rice servings because of the texture. It feels like eating a rice that had came right out from the refrigerator because it is not easy to eat it and it feels gritty in my mouth. For those that are not rice eaters out there you will find it hard to understand what I am talking about. It is because not all cooked rice is good to eat, the final texture will determine if you will enjoy eating it or not.

Being unable to fulfill my calorie requirement had been taking a toll against my ideal body weight.

So if the rice is quite undercooked, then it will be a problem to eat it. It is almost impossible to eat a half-cooked rice if the middle of it is still raw. But of course unless you are in the middle of a "Zombie Apocalypse" situation or there will be a famine in your place, you might even eat it uncooked because of hunger and lack of anything else to eat. But anyway, it is an utmost importance to cook the rice well and it will take about 45 minutes in my experience to cook a regular rice to give you a soft but firm and fluffy serving of rice. You can see if the rice was cooked well if it is fluffy and sticks together. A not so cooked well rice is the opposite, there is no noticeable fluffiness and the rice doesn't stick together unless it is a Basmati rice which would never stuck together.

The food's texture is as important as its taste, that is why Spaghetti must be "Al Dente", bread has a leavening, pickles should be crunchy, and rice must be fluffy.

The "keep warm" functionality of the rice cooker should be on for about 45 minutes in order for it to be cooked well enough that it will produce a better texture for the final product. You do not eat the rice before it has finished "settling" which is about 45 minutes as mentioned because you will not enjoy the best texture if you would happen to eat it right away. It is my personal preference because it works that way for everyone to enjoy eating it along with the viands that are prepared to be eaten with it

So unless that you have no other choice but to have an old stock of rice for some reason, it will be better to choose a type of premium rice that will give you a level of enjoyment while eating it even if you will eat it with a simple or not so delicious kind of viand dish which would of course will depend with your level of appetite or if you are so hungry or not that hungry compared to eating a rice preparation that is for sure will make you lose your appetite in that regard.

Here in our house my parents would not really cook the rice for my own preference particularly my father who is somewhat afraid of having the bottom of the pot into getting toasted. That is why he would turn-off the flame before the rice would be satisfactorily cooked. He also does that when cooking with the use of the rice cooker because as I have said above, he would unplug the rice cooker once the boiling stage is done and the "Keep warm" function got initiated. He said that it would cut the electricity consumption plus it will prevent the crusting of rice at the bottom of the pot. It is one of my "pet peeve" because my father is so thrifty that it will cause discomfort and inconvenience.

My father's way of using the rice cooker just prevents me from buying a bigger one aside from eating an almost undercooked rice.

This seemingly negligible issue about how our rice is cooked here in our home is a really big deal for me because it is not only bothering me nut also affects me directly. It is because I am already suffering from having a bad appetite but will always encounter a very badly cooked rice. I already confirmed that because I was always enjoying the rice that are cooked by other people like sometimes the rice servings from fast food restaurants and then recently, the rice that came from the food pack given to me and my parents by my local church brethren. Well my mother also noticed it, the rice was really delicious because it has a firm and bouncy texture which just meant that it was cooked well for that matter. So after I consumed it and went to the rice which came from our kitchen, I wasn't able to finish it even though I really like the viand that I was eating with it.

I am always enjoying the rice that are cooked by convenience stores and other people because the texture is different, and its taste is very nice.

Now you might tell me to just buy the rice that I like to cook and then cook it myself. But for the matter of practicality I will not buy rice for that matter because the rice that we use here in our house is just given to us by my sister's husband. So it is not good for me to buy an extra rice just to eat only once a day with a small serving because of the problem about my appetite. However maybe in the near future I will be able to buy a premium rice for the sake of having to enjoy eating it which will eventually lead for an additional calorie in my daily diet even though I still have to worry about eating enough for the said underlying issue of a bad appetite. But having a good quality rice is one thing but cooking it correctly is a another thing. So even with how rice is prepared here in my house had gone to be one of the major factor on how I end up having a hard time eating which is contributing for my failure to add some weight to my body.

It will be quite impractical for me to buy other rice for cooking if we are already receiving it free and it is really something. It is just the way how my parents cooks is giving me a hard time on how I would eat it.
