SLC S21W2/ Physical Activities for Child Development.

Steem greetings from the motherland-Cameroon to all the amazing parents and kids on the platform. It is week 2 of the learning challenge and I'm glad to share my ideas about the topic “physical activities for child development”.
This is an important lesson for us parents to town take with our kids as it builds a bond between parents and kids while keeping them healthy.
That said, I will present my ideas following the guiding questions asked by the teacher.
What type of physical activity did you select, what is it about? |
---|
I chose two aerobics exercises such as playing tennis and dancing with my 8 years old daughter and my 4-year-old son.
These are the two exercises that after exercising, we feel happy and healthy. Though we moved to a new apartment where there is no playfield for us to enjoy playing tennis because we are on the 3rd floor. We had to manage to play the tennis in the house. We made use of the little free space we had.
I participated by throwing the ball in the air for my kids to see who among them will hit the ball with the racket first. The person that hits the ball with the racket back to me has scored a goal.
Playing tennis
After the tennis, we engaged in dancing. My 4 years old son is a shy type and most often do not want to dance and I was surprised when he accepted to join in the dancing.
Dancing time
We played one of my daugter’s favourite songs titled “Baby Come Down” by Rema. She requested for the song and she was like our teacher, teaching us to dance following her dance steps.
What changes did you observe in the children during and after the activity? Do you think they used up all their energy? |

During the moment we started playing the tennis, my kids were so excited. It was fun playing with them and they were happy I was participating.
I also realised they were more energetic and not willing to stop. I had an exhausting day and only had little time in the evening hours with them. I had to bear all the stress and force myself to do the exercises. We took break intervals before continuing with the other exercise.
During the dancing session, my 4 years old son could not continue because dancing is not his thing.
After the exercises, my daughter was not happy after playing the tennis because her racket got broken. She was sad but I promised her to buy a new set stronger than the old ones.
Do you think that, in addition to exercising, the children had fun? |
---|
Of course, it was fun to all of us because it had been months since we had exercised as such with the kids. I have been too busy that I hardly have time to exercise with them. I had the feeling that they do enough exercise at school.
Doing these exercises with them every evening before going to bed will be good as I just realised it today after participating in the challenge.
Tell us about your experiences doing this physical activity? |

I had a jam-packed day with lots of house chores. Literally, I was occupied from 4:00 AM till 7:00 PM. I was feeling exhausted and feeling some body pains.
After the exercises with the kids, I felt relieved and more energetic to carry on with other activities.
I was feeling stiffness in my waist and having nerves issues maybe because of the much work I did for longer hours without rest. The exercises helped me and my blood pressure was normal.
Share videos or photos of yourself doing the activity, remember that you and the child(ren) must appear in the photos? |

For the purpose of the learning challenge, permit me to share some of the pictures doing the aerobic exercises with my kids.
In sum, it was a fun-filled evening with the kids doing these aerobic exercises. It was so much fun and a way to cool off after a stressful day of work. I think doing this every evening after work is a good way to get a good night's sleep and rest for us. I will invite @josepha, @rafk, @crismenia and @pelon53 to share their entries to the learning challenge topic “Physic activities for child development.”
