So I oppose the death penalty in all of its forms. And so I am happy with Biden's actions yesterday. But to be honest, if you are principled opponent of the death penalty then you have to say that the two hate crime murders and the terrorist should have had their sentence commuted as well. Either we are against the death penalty or we are not. If we are then we are in the most horrible of circumstances. And are these three really that worse than the others. Yes, what they did was evil but among those counted were cop killers, a police officer who hired a hitman to kill a woman who filed a complaint against him, drug related killers, killers of children, and those who killed federal guards. These people are the worst of the worst. But I rather they spend the rest of their lives in a 12 by 12 cell with one hour for exercise and having their basic needs met. We are the only advanced industrial country that intentionally kills prisoners and it is a stain on us. But to have that stance is the also put Roof, who killed innocent black worshipers, Tsarnaez, the Boston Marathon bomber, and Bower, the murderer at the Tree of Life synagogue in that cell as well. Otherwise, we will still have the death penalty which I believe is immoral and will be used for political reasons more than to deter crime.
