It was another hot day in Thailand—nothing unusual there. But this day came with a twist: we were expecting a scheduled power outage from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. To prepare, we charged all our devices the night before, filled up water bottles, and stocked up on snacks. We knew we’d have to get creative to escape the heat and pass the time. 🌞💦
Sure enough, at exactly 9:00 am, the power went out, and the house quickly became unbearable without air conditioning or a fan. Staying indoors wasn’t an option, so we decided to run a few errands and then treat ourselves to some quality time at a cat café—the perfect escape for a day like this! 🐾☕
By 9:30 am, we were out the door, starting with a stop at the bank to take care of some transactions. With that out of the way, we set our sights on the DOO CAT CAFE Phuket🇹🇭, located in the Rawai Sub-district. Luckily, it wasn’t too far from home, making it an ideal spot to relax and recharge while enjoying the company of some furry friends. 🐱✨

The entrance fee was 159 baht (around $4.60) per person, and it included a refreshing drink of your choice. After paying, the friendly staff guided us into the cat room.
Stepping inside, we were immediately greeted by the cool embrace of air-conditioned air—a much-needed relief from the intense heat of the day. The room housed around 23 cats, most of them senior residents, lounging around in their favorite spots. Some cats were nestled in cozy little baskets, others stretched lazily on the floor, and a few curious ones perched on the wooden shelves, observing us from above.
Each corner of the room had been designed thoughtfully to cater to the cats’ needs, from scratch posts to climbing platforms and napping spots. The serene environment was perfect for cat lovers like us to sit back, relax, and enjoy the company of these adorable furry friends.
Despite being older, some of the cats were still playful and curious, coming up to sniff us or gently pawing at our bags. It was heartwarming to see them so well taken care of, each with its unique personality shining through.
We sat down and ordered our drinks and some desserts to enjoy later, enjoying the cool air and the peaceful ambiance of the cafe. Watching the cats peacefully snooze or curiously glance our way was already delightful. But, of course, I couldn’t resist adding a little excitement to the mix! I spotted a pack of Cat Creamy Treats on the counter, and I knew exactly what to do. I ordered two packets, already imagining the joyful reactions of the cats.
The moment I tore open the first packet, the aroma seemed to act like a magic spell. The cats, who had been lounging and stretching lazily, perked up instantly. Some approached with cautious curiosity, while others confidently climbed onto my lap, purring enthusiastically. It was as if the creamy treats had awakened their inner kittens.
One by one, I held out the treat, and they eagerly licked it with their tiny, sandpaper-like tongues. The joy was mutual—watching their happy reactions was such a heartwarming moment. Even the shy or sleepy ones couldn’t resist joining the fun. Before long, the room was alive with soft meows, playful swipes at toys, and the gentle rustle of tails wagging.
It felt like we were bonding, even if just for a short while. Each cat had its unique personality—some were playful and cheeky, while others were calm and regal. Being surrounded by these lovely creatures truly felt like therapy for the soul. 😻✨
While I was busy feeding and bonding with the cats, my son decided to join in the fun. He grabbed one of the feather toys provided by the cafe and started playing with the more energetic cats. Watching him giggle as the cats jumped and swatted at the toy was such a joyful moment.
The cats, in turn, seemed to adore him. They chased after the feather on the stick, pouncing and twirling with an enthusiasm that brought the whole room to life. It was heartwarming to see this interaction, as both my son and the cats seemed to be having the time of their lives. 🐾💛
At this point, one of the friendly staff approached us to let us know that our desserts were ready. The presentation alone was enough to make our mouths water! From the cute cat-shaped spoon to the meticulous details of the plating, every element was crafted with love and creativity.
My favorite part was the chocolate lava cake served with a side of fresh banana slices and a dollop of whipped cream. It looked almost too good to eat! My son couldn’t wait to dig into his fluffy pancakes drizzled with syrup and garnished with the same delightful banana and cream combo. Both desserts were not only Instagram-worthy but also incredibly delicious.
By the time we finished our desserts, the cats had gone back to their usual activities—which mostly involved lounging around and looking adorable. 😄 Watching them reminded me of how effortlessly they embody relaxation and contentment, a lesson we humans could learn sometimes!
We spent about three hours with the cats, playing and snuggling with them. It was a peaceful and enjoyable experience, and for a while, we forgot all about the power outage.
After leaving the cat cafe, we headed to the Central Phuket Festival Mall for lunch. It was the perfect way to cap off a day that started with a challenge but turned into something memorable and joyful. The time spent with the cats gave us not only relief from the heat but also moments of pure happiness and laughter.
