Surprise |

My husband went to hang out with his friends in Dhaka a few days ago. I was alone at home that day. Since, I was busy with different things all day long, I felt a bit tired. My husband came back home and I was sitting on the sofa, reading a book. I was a little surprised, he had a small packet in his hands. I assumed he brought something special. He smiled and told me, I have something for you. I asked, "What is it?". He smiled and said "This is a surprise, for you."
I took the packet and opened it. I was amazed. I found a poetry book of Jibanananda Das's Banalata Sen inside. I was surprised because my husband had never given me such a special book. For a long time I had been curious about this book, but never thought it was something I would get. He wrapped up his feelings through this beautiful present that was not just a book.
My fav Poem from this Book |

When I was holding the book I felt some strange kind of emotion. I knew this book would have me take a place of feeling I had never felt before. I opened it up and read the first poem. Jibanananda Das’s poems took me to another world. There was something mysterious about his words that seemed to take me out of space. There were poems of love, of separation and I felt all of it deeply.
I started slowly reading every poem, and each line spoke to me more and more. The intensity of his feeling and Jibanananda Das's way of writing moved me deeply. I realized that words can sometimes carry things you never say and he did that by his poetry.
This book wasn’t just a gift. It was a deep love from our relationship. My husband would know I loved poetry so he gave me this. This is not just a book but a link of emotions. He was showing me that he cared about me and wanted to know me.
Even now when I look at the book I can feel that surprise in my heart like it was yesterday. I can’t forget any page, any word. That book makes me lose my mind and every poem, every emotion in that book is a reminder of how special that gift was. It was a memory, a treasure I won’t ever forget.
