Financial Education - From the economic and productive to the biological characteristics of the banana

Although I do not specialize in plant biology and much less in recognizing the reproductive characteristics of crops, today I bring you a brief topic on the origin and taxonomy of the banana.

On the other hand, the word banana is used to denominate the fruit of the indicated plant, banana or banana tree, which is characterized for being elongated and of yellow coloration. Formally it is called Musa paradisiaca. This is precisely how it was classified and named by the Swedish naturalist Charles Linnaeus in the mid-eighteenth century.

It is worth noting that subsequent studies have allowed to determine the complex taxonomy of the genus and even involves various hybrids, which have a varied genetic composition.

Undoubtedly, the banana is the most consumed tropical fruit in the world and as previously mentioned, its appearance is that of a false elongated berry that grows in clusters. When it is ripe its color is very yellow and on the contrary when it is not ripe its color is close to green.

It is sweet and fleshy and very rich in: fiber, potassium, carbohydrates and vitamins A and C, tryptophan, which is an essential amino acid in the nutrition of humans that helps fight irritation in the esophagus (heartburn).
